If you are an OVERS user who signs or certifies vital records (funeral director, medical certifier/examiner or birth certifier) you will use a biometric device (fingerprint reader) to electronically submit verification of your signature or certification of the record. The biometrics device plugs into your computer and requires the installation of a simple device driver. The biometrics driver must be installed on your computer before you can use the biometric device. This device driver allows your computer to recognize the biometric device which is used to submit your fingerprint as signature or certification on the record within OVERS.
To electronically submit verification of your signature or certification of vital records you will need:

APC biometric device (provided free of charge)*

Biometric device driver and Microsoft .NET Framework 2.x or higher (provided free of charge)*

A USB port on your computer
*The biometric readers and device drivers are provided to you free of charge by the Center for Health Statistics. Written instructions and free technical support are also provided with the biometrics device.

Biometric Device Drivers
If you do not have a CD copy of the biometric device drivers, you can download a zip file containing the basic drivers for installing the biometric device from the links below. To download the correct drivers click one of the links from each of the two lists below, the save the files to your computer.
Once saved on your computer, unzip the file, and follow the installation instructions provided above. You can also download these drivers directly from OVERS under Main>Help>Biometric Setup Files.
