Asthma Data Workgroup
Girl with dandilion

The Asthma Data Workgroup (ADWG) is a collaborative workgroup of data analysts, quality improvement coordinators from participating health plans, health system representatives, the Division of Medical Assistance Programs (DMAP, Oregon's Medicaid program), and the Oregon Asthma Program's(OAP) Epidemiologist.

One of the primary goals of the OAP is to develop a comprehensive public health surveillance system for asthma. The two main objectives of the surveillance system are to monitor how people with asthma are monitoring their asthma and describe the burden of asthma in our state. To accomplish these objectives, the OAP convened the ADWG. The objectives of the ADWG are to:

  • Develop methods for using medical and pharmacy claims data to describe asthma care management
  • Provide guidance in the analysis of medical and pharmacy claims data
  • Assist with the dissemination of surveillance data regarding the burden of asthma in Oregon
