Oregon Asthma Surveillance Data

 

The Burden of Asthma in Oregon: 2010  report provides a compilation of data on asthma in Oregon. The report includes information on asthma prevalence, hospitalizations, deaths, management of asthma, pediatric asthma, and much more.

Supplemental reports are also available.

 Asthma geographic disparities in Pediatric Asthma Control report cover The Report on Geographic Disparities in Pediatric Asthma Control Among Oregon Children on Medicaid (pdf) identifies counties in Oregon experiencing higher rates of poorly controlled asthma among children ages 0-17 years old on the Oregon Health Plan. This report includes claims data for emergency department visit rates and hospitalization rates.
 Asthma Focus Group Report cover

Focus Group Report: People with Asthma & Caregivers of Children with Asthma (pdf) This report provides the results of four focus groups in fall 2007 conducted by the Oregon Asthma Program. Participants consisted of two groups: people with asthma and caregivers of children with asthma. The focus groups were conducted in Portland and Eugene. Topics included: being diagnosed with asthma; perceived severity of asthma; asthma control and management; interactions with the healthcare system and providers; asthma education; community support; and smoking and secondhand smoke.

National Guiding Documents for Asthma

To help health care professionals bridge the gap between current knowledge and practice, the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program's (NAEPP) convened expert panels to prepare the Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma for the diagnosis and management of asthma.

Key Clinical Activities for Quality Asthma Care contains recommendations of the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program. [March 28, 2003 MMWR Report].
