The status of beaches along the south coast is based on beach water quality monitoring that
occurs between Memorial Day and Labor Day. This monitoring data is used for recreational
swimming and bathing purposes only. 

The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife
(ODFW) jointly issue shellfish safety closures to protect recreational shellfish harvesters from
consuming clams or mussels contaminated with harmful biotoxins
