Help for Perinatal Depression and Anxiety

If you have perinatal depression or anxiety, it’s important to know you are not alone. You are not to blame. With support and treatment, you will get better.

The first step to recovery is to reach out. Family and friends, healthcare providers, counselors, and support groups can all help. The following resources can help you get started.

Perinatal Depression/anxiety Helpline
1-800-944-4PPD, Postpartum Support International provides information, support, and links to resources (including providers) in your community or on the internet. A volunteer will return your call within 24 hours.

County Mental Health Services
Find the mental health crisis hotline and service phone numbers in your Oregon community.

Health and Social Service Referrals
1-800-SAFENET(1-800-723-3638) SafeNet provides information and help to find to healthcare providers, mental health, and social services in Oregon communities.

Oregon Health Plan
If you are on the Oregon Health Plan, call the Medical or Mental Health Plan phone number on your OHP card for help finding care. If you have Oregon Health Plan “fee for service”, call the 24 hour nurse advice line at 1-800-562-4620.

National Suicide Prevention Hotline
1-800-273-TALK (8255). Free and confidential crisis counseling 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Social Support for Perinatal Depression in Oregon

Postpartum Support International (PSI) has volunteers in Oregon communities who provide caring and informed support and resources by telephone and email for mothers, families and professionals

Baby Blues Connection

Baby Blues Connection offers telephone and email support, information and resource lists, and mom-to-mom support groups in Portland and Vancouver.


Wellmama and Wellmama Oregon offer telephone and email support and professional trainings in the Willamette Valley and Southern Oregon. Support groups and other services are available in Corvallis and Eugene.

Mothers and Babies Course/Curso Madres y Bebes

Perinatal depression prevention program of Easter Seals and Mid Valley Behavioral Care Network provides classes in English and Spanish in the Salem area. (503) 485-2191 or (503) 910-4337
