Portland Water Bureau's Open Reservoirs
 
Federal regulations require all public water systems that store treated water in uncovered reservoirs to either cover the facilities or treat the effluent. In 2009, EPA approved Portland Water Bureau's (PWB) schedule to build replacement storage and discontinue use of their five uncovered reservoirs in order to comply with this requirement.

Second Extension Request
On February 4, 2013, Commissioner Novick requested an extension of PWB's schedule to comply with open reservoir requirements.
First Extension Request
On February 10, 2012, the Portland Water Bureau requested an extension of their compliance schedule.
