CPSC Recall Alert December 20, 2002
CPSC, Wear Me Apparel Corp. Announce Recall of Infant Girls' Garments
Sold at: Kmart stores nationwide exclusively sold these garments from August 2002 through October 2002 for between $10 and $13.
Hazard: The paint on the "smiley face" zipper-pull attached to the sweat jacket of these garments contains lead. Young children could ingest lead from the zipper-pull, presenting a lead poisoning hazard.
Description: The recalled garments were sold under the "Joe Boxer" brand name in sizes 12-months through 18-months and size 24-months. The garments were sold as sets that include a light tan sweat jacket with the word "Smile" embroidered on the front and a painted "smiley face" yellow zipper-pull and red sweat pants. Only style numbers 40801002 and 40801003 are included in the recall and can be found on the reverse side of the care label. Writing on the collar label includes "MADE IN/HECHO EN CHINA."
Remedy: Consumers should return the clothing sets to any Kmart store to receive a full refund.

CPSC, McDonald's Corp. and Bobble Dreams USA Announce Recall of Chicago Bears Bobble Head Figurines
Sold at: McDonald's restaurants sold the figurines in the greater Chicago area, Northwest Indiana, Central Illinois and Rockford as part of a promotion that ran from August 19, 2002 through September 12, 2002 for about $5.00
Hazard: The paint on some of the figurines contains excess levels of lead. If ingested over time by children, the lead from the paint may present a lead poisoning hazard.
Description: The recalled bobble head figurines are designed in the likeness of NFL players Brian Urlacher and Anthony Thomas. The 7-inch tall figurines have heads on springs that cause them to bobble from side to side. The figurines are dressed in Chicago Bears' uniforms. The McDonald's logo and the player's name are printed across the front of the base. Labels on the bottom of the figurine read, "BOBBLE DREAMS USA" and "MADE IN CHINA," and "OFFICIAL NFL LICENSED PRODUCT."
Remedy: Consumers should keep these figurines away from children and contact McDonald's to receive return and refund instructions. NOTE: Recall information is no longer on the firm's web site). |

CPSC Recall Alert February 20, 2002
CPSC, Alpha International Announce Recall of Pedal Cars
Sold at: The two "Raley's" cars were sold exclusively at Raley's supermarkets from July 2000 through December 2000. Department, toy, and specialty/collectible stores sold all of the other pedal cars from November 1999 through January 2002 for between $100 and $500
Hazard: The paint coating on some of these pedal cars contains high lead levels. CPSC standards ban toys and other children's products containing high levels of lead. Young children could ingest the lead from the car's paint coating, presenting a lead poisoning hazard.
Description: All of the pedal cars are made of metal and come in a variety of colors. Most of the cars have a "Gearbox" logo on the seat back, the hubcaps, and/or the pedals. |

Remedy: Consumers should take these pedal cars away from young children immediately.
Contact: Consumers can contact Alpha International at (800) 368-6367 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday to receive a replacement car or return the products to the place where purchased to receive a full refund. |
