2011 Algae Bloom Advisories

The 2011 bloom season extended from June into February, 2012. Eighteen advisories were issued that were in effect for a total of 1,175 days (advisory-days). This was the first season that had an added requirement to test for both cell counts and toxins before an advisory could be lifted. Get complete details in the 2011 Bloom Season Recap (pdf).

Join our Listserv

The HABS program has created a listserv to share information with partners, stakeholders and interested public. When an advisory is issued, an email is sent to subscribers that includes the news release and water sample results (algae species and cell counts). Emails are also sent when an advisory is lifted.
