Actively growing isolates of E. coli, Klebsiella or Enterobacter species that meet the OHA CRE Case definition.  Submit isolates on an agar slant or plate media.​

Handling

​​​Seal plate or tube, place in biohazard transport bag; keep at ambient or refrigerator temperature. Do not freeze, avoid extreme heat. Submit specimen according to Infectious Substance Shipping Guidelines.

Rejection Criteria

Unlabeled or leaking specimens; incomplete requisition.
