About Us The Oregon Alliance Working for Antibiotic Resistance Education (AWARE) is a statewide coalition that promotes the appropriate use of antibiotics. AWARE is part of Acute & Communicable Disease Prevention in the Center for Public Health Practice. The partnership includes physicians, health care providers, public health agencies, higher education representatives and consumer/community-based organizations. Mission Oregon AWARE encourages the appropriate use of antibiotics and aims to reduce the problem of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in Oregon. Goals To raise public awareness about the importance of using antibiotics wisely. To encourage Oregon’s physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners to appropriately prescribe antibiotics.
