Climate and Public Health Program | StaffAbout UsThe Oregon Health Authority (OHA) is one of five agencies across the country that received a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as part of the Climate-Ready States and Cities Initiative. This program is intended to help agencies address the public health effects of climate change related events.
The Climate and Public Health Program is part of Research and Education Services in the Center for Health Protection. Read More Capacity-building projects differ from state to state and city to city and may include:
- Developing and improving climate change data through selected SEHIC Climate Change Indicators
- Developing programs and workshops to educate state agencies about climate change
- Improving partnerships between agencies
In Oregon, public health officials have:
- Conducted workshops
- Created presentations on preparing for climate change-related events in a public health context
- Established a mini-grant process for counties to implement their own climate change preparedness
