Introduction
During the 2009 Legislative Session, Oregon State Legislators passed a law that will require chain restaurants in Oregon to provide information about the nutritional values in food - Under House Bill 2726, the Menu Labeling Act, all chain restaurants are required to provide, upon request, information about the nutrition values for calories, trans fat, saturated fat, sodium and carbohydrates starting January 1, 2010. Then in January 2011, chain restaurants will be required to post calories on their menus.
The Oregon Health Division is currently developing rules for those aspects of the law that go into effect in 2010.
