Basic and Advanced Disaster Life Support and Burn Disaster Training

Course Descriptions

The Basic Disaster Life Support (BDLS) course is a seven hour competency-based, awareness-level course that introduces concepts and principles to prepare health professionals for the management of injuries and illnesses caused by disasters and public health emergencies.  See full description.

Course credits: 7.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Pre-requisites: None.  Open to all professions.  However, preference may be given to members of the State Emergency Registry of Volunteers in Oregon (SERV-OR).

The Advanced Disaster Life Support (ADLS) course is an intense two-day course that allows participants to demonstrate competencies in mass casualty management. Includes disaster scene simulation with live simulated victims.   See full description.

Course credits: 15.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Pre-requisites: Basic Disaster Life Support (BDLS) and an active health care provider license.

Additionally, preference may be given to members of the State Emergency Registry of Volunteers in Oregon (SERV-OR).

Volunteers “Victims” Needed

Additional volunteers are needed to role play as victims on the second day of the Advanced courses. This is a fun opportunity for anyone to help their community and medical providers learn how to respond to disasters.  Food and beverage provided.  More information and registration is provided below under course listings for Advanced Disaster Life Support.
