Getting to know the new faces of EMS

Meet our new EMS Licensing and Compliance Specialist
Barb Chapman

What is your hometown?
Mentor, Ohio

What is your new job title?
EMS Licensing and Compliance Specialist

What do you do in your new position?
I am the support staff for EMS Licensing, Education and Compliance staff.

What are you looking forward to about your new position?
I am glad to be working at PSOB again.  I enjoy the people and the environment of helping the people of Oregon.

What did you do before coming to EMS?
I have lived in several  states in the last 30 years, including Coeur d’Alene, Idaho (working at North Idaho College), and in Los Angeles, California, at the Peace Corps Recruiting Office, and the Warner Bros. and Disney movie studios (and it WAS as fun as it sounds!).  I worked at the state previously for nine years: at the Board of Nursing; and DHS Childrens Intensive In-Home Services.  I took a couple years off for medical reasons (I lost most of my eyesight) and had to have both eyes re-built to restore my vision.  I started in EMS as a temporary in May, applied for the job, and was hired!

What is your education?
I have taken several college courses over the years, and I am a trained phlebotomist.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I enjoy reading, swimming and “working on my tan” in the summertime, watching old movies, and hanging out with friends.  I spend a lot of time with my boyfriend, and my two “furry purries.”
