Community Health Assessment (CHA) and Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) Alignment Workgroup
Many local public health authorities are pursuing accreditation through the Public Health Advisory Board. Public health accreditation requires health departments to complete a Community Health Assessment (CHA) and a Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). Similarly, Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs), local mental health authorities and nonprofit hospitals also have requirements to complete CHAs and CHIPs.
House Bill 2087, passed in the 2013 legislative session, allows OHA to adopt uniform timelines and requirements for entities submitting CHAs and CHIPs. In October 2013, a group of individuals representing each of these groups came together with OHA staff to determine how to best leverage opportunities for local public health, CCOs, local mental health and nonprofit hospitals to coordinate on the development of CHAs and CHIPs.
