When in doubt, stay out!
Exposure to harmful algae blooms increases in warmer months. OHA staff advise people to be alert for algae blooms when recreating in your favorite swimming or fishing hole.
- Avoid waters that look suspicious (foamy, scummy, thick like paint, pea-green, blue-green or brownish red).
- Remember, even if an advisory is not in place or you didn't notice a sign, you are always your own best advocate when it comes to looking out for you, your family and your pets.
The map and table below are continually updated with the most current information on advisories issued and lifted throughout the season for waterbodies that are monitored. NOTE: Only a fraction of all waterbodies in Oregon are monitored due to limited physical and monetary resources.
