Staying healthy means taking good care of your mind and body by being physically active, getting regular check-ups, having people and relationships that support you, and managing your specific health issues.

Many of the top women’s health risks, including heart disease, obesity and diabetes, are often preventable. That’s why it’s so important to be proactive when it comes to your health.

Women's health programs in the Public Health Division work to ensure all women in Oregon have the necessary knowledge, resources and opportunities to optimize their mental and physical health. We assess the health and health needs of Oregon women across the lifespan, and promote programs that increase awareness of women's health issues among the public, researchers, educators and health care professionals.

Getting regular check ups and preventive screening tests is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. By being proactive, you can find problems early, when they are easier to treat.
Many women experience emotional swings, often called "baby blues," after giving birth. However, some women develop more serious prenatal or postpartum depression or anxiety. Treatment and support are available. The first step is to reach out for help.
Preconception health means starting pregnancy in a state of optimal physical, emotional and social well-being. We envision an Oregon in which preconception health is the norm for women of reproductive age.
Pregnancy is an exciting time, but it can also raise a lot of questions. Knowing you are doing all you can to stay healthy during pregnancy and give your baby a healthy start in life will help you have peace of mind.
