Our state Genetics Program works to promote the health, well-being, and quality of life of Oregonians using up-to-date knowledge of genomics through public health surveillance, policy development, and education.
The goals of the program are to reduce morbidity and mortality from genetic conditions, to educate the public and health care providers about how genomics influences health so they can make informed decisions about the use of genomics in health care, to promote a supportive policy environment for genomics and health, and to increase Oregon Public Health's genomics capacity.
