This position… This classification provides skilled public health nursing services at a variety of clinic and community settings in these program areas: parent and child health, nutrition, family planning, communicable and chronic disease. The community health nurse assesses needs of individuals, families, groups, and determines a plan to meet those needs, implements the plan, and then evaluates the results. The emphasis is on promotion of health and prevention of disease. The community health nurse frequently is the primary health advisor to a family.

This classification performs professional duties in the management and coordination of the Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) program in the design, implementation and evaluation of nutrition education; administers needs assessment of clients and plans programs to meet needs and ensure program compliance to Federal and State standards. Plans and implements nutrition education programs. Ensures WIC compliance with state and federal regulations. Interviews clients, gathers medical and nutritional history, obtains blood pressure, height and weight measurements to determine eligibility in the program. Assesses nutritional needs of client and develop plan.

MULTNOMAH COUNTY Health Department is seeking to hire a .8 FTE Infection Control Preventionist Nurse
Some of the responsibilities of this position will be to:
- Develop, implement, and monitor healthcare infection surveillance programs to prevent and minimize the occurrence of infections.
- Assess current infection control practices in Health Department clinics and guide compliance with current requirements from OSHA, JCAHO, CDC, and MCHD Administrative Guidelines.
- Implement and maintain best practice surveillance system for MCHD.
- Monitor Infection rates related to client procedures and client/staff exposure.
- Actively lead or participate in data analysis to identify and prioritize infection risks for MCHD clients and staff.
