Mobile Training Unit update
Spring was a busy season for the Mobile Training Unit (MTU). Both coordinators were active in conferences and regional trainings across the state. Events included the State of Jefferson EMS Conference in Medford, the EMS CEU Summit in Eugene and the Timberline EMS Conference at Mount Hood.

The MTU gave EMS education in-services in Astoria and Richland. MTU coordinators educated more than 300 EMS Oregon providers in the second quarter of 2013.

Laurel Conley, the northern MTU coordinator, resigned her position May 15 to pursue a career in flight medicine. We wish her well in her new adventure.

The 2011–2013 license renewal period is drawing to a close. All EMTs, advanced EMTs, EMT-intermediates, and paramedics should follow the continuing education transition requirements outlined in Appendix 3 during the 2013–2015 licensure cycle. You can access the document on the Oregon EMS Rules and Statutes Page.

Appendix 3’s other mandatory topics include the requirements to complete the state-approved EMS educational transition. These requirements for EMRs are included in Appendix 2 for the 2012–2014 licensure cycle.

Find more information and resources about the mandatory educational transition on the Oregon EMS and Trauma Systems webpage. Look in “EMS Provider and Licensing: Transition Information.”
